My students come first.
I am dedicated to the District that I serve, and the needs of that program and those students will always supersede this pet project, Buying School Food, including this website and its social channels.
Keeping this in mind, I make the following pledges:
- I pledge to only work on Buying School Food when I am “off the clock” of my District job. This means you will likely hear from me at odd work hours, including early morning, typical lunch hours, evening, and weekends. Many social channels have the ability to schedule posts, so you may see posts or video uploads during working hours; however, those will always be pre-scheduled.
- I pledge to never use unauthorized images of District students. I recognize that the District’s media release does not cover uses by Buying School Food and will honor it.
- I pledge to respect my staff’s right to privacy and will only use their images with their consent.
- I pledge to never use District resources for Buying School Food purposes. If needed, I will purchase available food and supplies from the District at a la carte prices. If an a la carte price is not established for an item, I will pay 2.5x the cost, which is the District’s standard method for setting prices. I will not purchase food or supplies that are in short supply. I will also not take items given to the District by a vendor intended to be used as “samples”.
- I pledge I will not accept anything of monetary value from current or potential contractors of the District’s School Nutrition Program. This includes samples, gifts, sponsorships, etc. This is to remain in compliance with the federal standards of conduct and prevent conflict of interest. Any samples received from these contractors for Buying School Food will be purchased at fair market prices.
- I pledge I will not use my position with the District to leverage power for Buying School Food’s benefit. Ethics complaints should be reported to the District’s Ethics Committee, per Hamilton County Schools (Tennessee) Board Policy 1.107.
